October – Visit my studio during the Northwoods Art Tour!  The Northwoods Art Tour offers a glimpse in to the minds and hands of artists.  See the artists at work and ask questions about their processes.  I will be demonstrating a process called wire drawing and porcupine quill embroidery on birch bark.

The featured earrings are created using sustainably harvested birch bark and porcupine quills.  I love the many colors of birch bark that are discovered as a piece of bark is split open – a process that is like opening the pages of a book – each layer offers a new experience!

  1. How exciting to have such a great opportunity for the Northwoods. I was at my stitching group yesterday and one of the ladies shared that you would be offering some awesome classes in September, one of them being brich bark basketry. Do you have any informationon the cost and date of such a program?

    Thanks,
    Cindy

    • Hi Cindy! It is nice to “meet” you! We are holding a birch bark box class on September 22 from 5:30 – 8:30. You will make a cylindrical birch ark box that has a lid. These boxes are great accent pieces and make wonerful treasure boxes! The cost of the class is $30 which includes all materials, tool usage and instruction. Watch for a new September posting soon for all of the offerings!

  2. I was wondering if you have a email announcement list I could be added to?
I just learned of your place from the Vilas Co. facebook page. It sounds wonderful, I plan to stop in next time we are in the area.
    Thanks,
